Installation

When you install Media Center Weatherstation for Windows 7/Vista, you actually install two applications:

  • Weatherstation Server
This is a stand-alone application that is responsible for downloading weather forecasts and, if applicable, retrieving weather information from your personal weatherstation.
After installation, this application will automatically be started every time you start Windows.
  • Weatherstation for Media Center
This application can be used to view weather information within the Media Center application.

Using Weatherstation Server

The Weatherstation Server application appears as an icon in your system tray:

Normally the application does not require any interaction.
In the background, it downloads weather forecasts and, if you have a La Crosse WS23xx weatherstation connected to your PC, it retrieves weather information from your personal weatherstation.

When you double-click the icon, however, you can use the server application to configure Media Center Weatherstation.
A window will pop up, that contains a number of tabs that can be used to change a number of settings:

Weather forecast
In this tab you can specify if you want Media Center Weatherstation to show weather forecasts.
If so, then:
  • check "Show weatherforecast"
  • enter the name of the city in the text field
  • press the "Search" button
  • select the required city in the list
Weather station
In this tab you can specify if you have a La Crosse WS23xx weatherstation connection to your PC.
If so, then:
  • check "The weatherstation is connected to this PC"
  • specify the COM port the weatherstation is connected to
  • specify the interval at which data must be retrieved from the weatherstation
  • specify the folder in which the retrieved data must be stored
Units
In this tab you can specify the units that Media Center Weatherstation must use when displaying weather information.
Corrections
If you have a personal weatherstation connected to your PC, it is possible that your wind sensor is not aligned completely correctly.
If so, you can use this tab to make sure that the deviation is corrected by the specified number of degrees.
